Asmeret’s Musings:
Tales of a Young Firran

11/10/19
Entry 1.

It was a wonder any word have traveled so far as where the clan had been this past week. But I was permitted and given some supplies to venture closer to the Harani’s city..Villanelle as they call. A gathering of instrument players and a poet or two? All the differing scents, hair and clothes..so different from the plains. It took a little to settle Bereket. But we managed..made it. Few distractions or perhaps too many to pay anything much heed. The bright colors of the plants were a pleasing change..

Finally we made it to the hill, saw plenty of the Harani..a few what were they? Warborn yes..Warborn..so tall. Perching atop their shoulders would give a good view if the plains while hunting. Then a few of my own people. They dressed similar to the others and not of us. City walkers. Though I suppose the garb I cloth myself in this day makes me one temporarily as well..though it was on purpose. Getting back to the music players it seemed that their instruments were misbehaving or was it nerves? First time seeing some that were supposedly masters or close to.

[There are some sketches of the musicians in action as they played their respective instruments. Another smaller sketch is of the players from the waist up. Then some ensuing sketches of scenery the firran pass.]

This Master Shao, assumedly master of this training ground claims there’d been trouble for a few weeks. That the instruments are fine yet this day proves something is not right. Though it is not a concern to my own so I shall not worry..too much. Strangers are just that..foreign and none here seemed to be a danger truly.

A puffed up, red clad Harani woman seemed to have an armored Warborn as a servant. Truly I feel this only adds to their air..the unpleasant scent most carry. Another Warborn seemed to be different and spoke often to another..small one. Met a nice enough Warborn woman and the green haired music player. Spoke of ghost..suggested moving and letting Nui priestess cleanse the area. I left the area while the majority were wrapped in conflict. Not of the physical kind but more verbal..a pity I couldn’t glean more but the sun waits for none.

All in all I was still able to bring back something to the clan. I'd say it was an even split between teasing and genuine enjoyment/praise. But the food this night tasted sweeter..more enjoyable. Was my aim afterall..and mostly completing it shall suffice for this firran.

Bereket and Idili seemed to simply be glad to be back on familiar grounds as it seems to bother them more then it does I. But they tolerate my choices at least. Perhaps in time they'll adjust? I will not force them to do such..

Entry 2.

A smaller entry, too tired to write much anyways. You only realize how much you miss quiet watch nights when something appears in view. A citywalker, serpent wandered close enough to earn my attention and I regret it now. A Harani that I believe was at the music thing. For while they can seem harmless enough their words..I know I’m not a cub but they were just..I didn’t like it and worry something bad will happen. But perhaps I shouldn’t worry about a stranger I’ll hopefully never encounter again. Regardless the clan has moved on from this warring area into the more peaceful lands..connect with some old friends and sell some pelts while we rest up for our next venture. Ayantu says this won’t take long and to enjoy time amongst our kin and I will indeed. You get to hear so much on travelers..it brightens the mind.

[There’s another sketch though this time it’s pictures of how she imagines characters from tales.]

Entry 3.

The clan moved closer to Tigerspine. More trees was a welcome change and yet again I was able to have some time to myself with my snowlion. A tree offered shade for the both of us after a long journey, and the air was pleasant. Scents only partially unfamiliar so it was pleasing. Though it seems my luck with strangers continues to be..lacking. Met a Warborn and spoke with them, a dark skinned one with assumedly no inhibitor or whatever those devices are called. Adventurous but with dangerous curiosities..I'd join in relic searching but the..darker magical things and beings aren't to be tampered with! I felt looked down on for having a sense of responsibility to my own..that smug look. Even writing this makes me fur rise..why? This is the second time I've gotten frustrated by a stranger. Is this normal? Am I too easily fluffed? I do not know. I want to ask more about Warborn but I need to find someone not so..icky. Not sure if I'll meet Ayande ever again but we shall see where the wind takes us both.

For Bereket, Idili and I it's taken us to the market for some food. Food's always a nice comfort! Maybe I should bring some back for the others..? Quick glance reveals so many choices..better not get distracted oof.

Entry 4.

I learned the slippery city walker has a name and two sides. Leng or something. Still speaks kinda funny but I can understand now and they're..more pleasant. A bit too energetic and wanting to take me elsewhere. Pleasant enough and the tea is alright. I have a feeling I've gained an admirer or at least someone that'll conveniently show up..'wandering'.

Was brushing my snowlion's mane under the shade of a tree off the beaten path. Resting. Today however I finally met a firran outside of the clan. A new firran that wasn't some merchant or regular I see appeared. Not
the oddest cat in grass but odd. Amaljin. Didn't like to talk, wore cloth over his mouth, mostly wanted food, seemed unkempt and seemed curious enough about Bereket. Like a stray..though I suppose that also fits considering he's separated from a friend. I wonder if he can use a map..or even has any idea where he's going? Should I be concerned..? Leaning towards yes but he ran off before we could chat any longer..may Tahyang watch over him and the winds keep his steps on the best path.

Entry 5.

Small entry this time. I was right somewhat to at least feel some concern but it appears I didn't chase them away nor did they find me unmemorable apparently for they offered food. Though I assume it was from the stands and also it was crushed. Perhaps next time I can also bring them some simple soaps and food..they were a little dirty I think? Maybe a book.

I do not quite understand what was being celebrated at the 'festival' the other day. But there was food(most importantly good meat) and we got to watch people. One warborn seemed to dislike violence and wasn't so..well they didn't shrug off pain so well like the others. Another had small horns unlike every other I've seen, which apparently was a personal issue. I need to work on how I ask things..and being odd...

Now the friend I worried about is with us. With the clan, if only temporarily while we search for their 'friend', some mystery woman. After some thinking by myself given how they act normally and what little I know I'm still fairly suspicious of the nature of their relationship and what went down when they were separated. Truthfully I hope that this search doesn't prove more dangerous then it's worth. But we shall see..meanwhile he now has access to soap at least! Dirty no more! Until he probably goes chasing something..what a goof.

In somewhat more unpleasant-ish notes I traveled to the Silent Forest. I think I've only been to a forest once or twice before and it never felt like this place. There were prickles of something in the air and some areas smelled funny you know? Just when we thought it couldn't get any more peculiar we see these..puffs? Wisps? Yes wisps though turns out they may be souls or were just the pink ones Kuyo had? Kuyo. Yes. The snowlion hater..whom could make the wisps change color. Prickly and weird and called me a name. Kuyo, wears odd hat, grumpy, scruffy. Plays with wisps which are actually souls of followers of Aier

Knows magic, may be alchemist. Has notes on plants and animals, with crystals and some animal bones. Vials strewn about. Does he have friends? Looks better without funny hat. The shards have..whispers..? Not sure we'll meet again but then again he doesn't care really and neither should I?

Entry 7.

I managed to actually visit this remote tavern called the 'Open Palm'. Spotted Kora, Tani & Cinnabar there. No Gale. Spoke with Kora and Tani for a bit..and now they may host a fight night. Would be different from the things I've been to so far..can't say I'd step into the ring. Though if I'm able I'll bring Amaljin with me to it..perhaps to help sell things or at least sample any food they have or for company's sake. As a side note I did get to see a brewery owned by a spikey, big eyed firran named..Khoshekh. He makes good drinks there's no doubt about it. Impressive and tasty!

Despite the suspicion that still sits in my gut and the confusion on if we've become real friends. On one hand we mostly get along, while on another he'll still call names and think himself smart than I. I've managed to run into Kuyo several times after our initial meeting hence I sort of know these things. Really on himself alone? Ha. That'll only get you so far..

Not sure if the good luck charm has benefited him given our discussion tonight at the statue but..hopefully it helps a little? He seems to want to conquer his fear of Snowlions sorta? But that expression..ha! I had to fight myself to not laugh some..I think Bereket knew exactly what he was doing while also just wanting food.

Whatever the outcome after he was dropped off, I hope he stops playing with dangerous things and people.

[There's a sketch of a giant, fierce looking stone statue at the bottom as well as a river.]

Entry 8.

I guess this passed day was an unfortunate one. Gale had been injured, while another unknown firran came in with a limp and messed up face. Though supposedly the firran has had these injuries..and I think Gale should be fine? Hopefully. His poor art however, I can't say the same for. I have to figure out why folks would also joke about someone owning warborn. Serious matter that is.

Just as I thought I couldn't worry more about him, Amaljin proves me wrong. He apparently hasn't been told about money, manners, not to drink from dirty sources and has tried ocean water. His habit of just going around like a kit and doing everything that comes to mind is just..well. Slowly becoming less endearing to say the least! I need to explain some things to him. That and hope I never go on a boat ever again..or the person..Yureila in this case learns to look more closely. Her poor, flimsy and very flashy yet pretty dress got ruined..

Lastly it seems burning bridges are a small price if a price at all to some whose goals sound..possibly fun if not a lonely existence. But I cannot insist on anything, not my place at all. I'll not hold my breathe that my words got through their thick skull.

Entry 9.

Fed a few donkeys and they followed me all the way till I could sell 3 of the 4 I'd attracted. Got 12 gold and a 'gilda star' for those three. I hope they are doing alright after I sold them. I'll never know otherwise but at least I have Yedeki now? I need to take him home to the tribe because a certain firran has a point..he's a bit of a liability for myself and Bereket to keep track of and run with.

There also seems to be a lot of drifting and wandering from those closer to me. Be it some cat looking for a suspicious sounding friend, to another looking for new recipes to enrich the tribe, to a cat wanting a boat, to another looking for a teacher. Then myself..whom feels I've gone to every easy location I can now and am not sure where to go next. Somehow just walking along randomly bothers me a great deal. A lot of small 'what ifs' that could grow into something larger..though I feel a certain serpent tongued harani may enjoy such. I shall think about it all and hope that my friends are doing alright with their pursuits. Also ponder what to do with all this coin..

Entry 10.

The holidays are upon us and the new year draws closer still. An old year shall die in a festive manner and a new one started just as it has always. I continue to pray for the tribemates that still wander even during this time where we are to be together for the end and start of the year.

My being auctioned off wasn't so bad though it seems the person whom won me had a genuine crush on me? Or perhaps it was just said that way because I was the first to come up and be the one they decided to splurg on as they claimed they had to. The fishing date that ensued was pleasant as well and..went with little struggle.

I travel back to my tribe in Falcourth to celebrate the end of the year with feasting, dancing, sparring and a blessing ceremony to start off this coming year right. I pray for the best..

Entry 11.

The new year came and the day before the eve I had the bard visit. Seems his feelings hadn't dimmed despite my telling him otherwise the night of the auction. For a former serpent he was bold..but then again I suppose that isn't to..surprising he's always been odd. It got a reaction that's for sure but I just..hmm. I just can't understand how this all of a sudden happened. From nothingness to something else.

The eve came and went. Another visited..this one was planned and it was more relaxing and pleasant. Truly I couldn't have foreseen this happening the other night on the cusp of a new year. I'm sure they feel the same and we shall see what it brings for the future. How will I handle all this? How will their trip go? I don't know about either but I'll figure out the one.

Tahyang keep my thoughts and heart and hands steady.
