Addressed to Kora's dad in Windscour
In terribly legible handwriting and littered with more than a few spelling and grammar mistakes.

You warned me before leaving that the rest of the world was not as nice as home and I thought I knew that. I was an idiot, I know that now.

I haven’t found mom, I don’t think I’m any closer to finding her than when I left Windscour. But I will. In Austera I hope I’ll find answers instead of more questions.

Kameraad isn’t doing well. You warned me about that too. He injured his front leg. He rested at a nice farm for a few days. Luckily just a sprain. This is why I’m writing. A friendly Warborn made an ointment for him. It worked very well! She was kind enough to share the recipe. I think it would be very useful for the horses and the yata on the ranch.

Be well and I’ll see you soon.
Kora

Addressed to Wanderer. The handwriting is bad, but not atrociously so. Anyone who knows handwriting can tell the author wrote with painstaking slowness. There are quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes.

Wanderer. Hope you are no longer ill. Found these notes in Austera in the office that was not my house, I can’t read it. Can you?

There was a letter left by Janbei, one of the historians, he says what they found is dangerous. Don’t tell everyone and their horse about this okay. I think he’s dead now. It would be good if you and I don’t die.

Talk soon.

Addressed to North Light. The handwriting is pretty bad and difficult to read.

You know Sturdy Wave, surprise. She's been a reliable help to me, good choice.
Your Palm needs quarry stone, I have some contacts that can help. I'll let you know.

The roof wasn't my fault, but I did the window. Not sorry, there was a thief.

Talk soon.

Written in a stylized calligraphy that may be difficult to read

Dearest Kora,

It is with great sorrow that I send you this letter. It was a great struggle for me to read. Barbaric is the only word that comes to mind. Insufferable even.

Really Kora. You must work on your penmenship.

On the other matter, Sturdy Wave has yet to prove her worth to me but she seems adequate. I struggled to contract local laborers -- as suspected, nobody seems to want to work for a Warborn. On that note, have you ever considered acting? With a bit of styling you could look like a young entrepreneur. You could be of great help to me here at The Open Palm.

Just let me write the letters.

Ta ta for now,
North Light

Written in plain script, easy enough to read. His handwriting is somewhat narrow and slanted.

Miss Kora Sun,

I apologize for my delayed reply. Re-translating this document has proven to be an exceptional challenge.

It appears to be an old fable, in which a Sallium and Firran travel together throughout the Eastern continent. The translation you provided does have a few noteworthy mistakes. There is no mention of the Tehmi Empire here, and the original text does not call the Eastern continent "Haranya." I am having a difficult time dating the tale, and I believe it may predate the Eclipse War; the war which brought our ancestors Eastwards. So, it is a strange phenomenon that a Sallium would be in the East. Speculating, I would guess this is from the late second century or early third century, post-Auroria.

I noted that the prevailing message of the story is to be wary and mindful of evil. The travelers encounter several creatures who warn them against their journey, and, in the end, they perish in a jungle that I can say with near certainty is Perinoor. I also believe there is a deeper message hidden among this text. There are passages that simply don't translate to anything more than gibberish, but, I suspect it is coded. I would recommend consulting a cryptologist. Or, if there is any way you can find something that might be a primer, I may be able to decode the passages.

At first, I thought that the disappearance of Virtuous Discoveries was political in nature, but, the more I consider the evidence, the more I suspect otherworldly powers at play. I advise caution, and relying on the friends you have amassed to solve this mystery. It feels dangerous, and I don't think that anyone can do this alone.

Regards,
Wanderer

Written carefully, pretty legible and the grammar and spelling is okay.

Wanderer,

I hope you are okay, I was very worried when you collapsed. Did you kill those guards? Take care of the ones that were chasing us? That’s very powerful magic. You are much scarier than you look.

I am at home, in Windscour, with my father. He says I shouldn’t write too much detail. When we ran from Arcum the place, Kameraad and I fell. Kameraad’s leg is broken, I don’t think I will be able to ride him again. That’s why I wasn’t there when you woke up. You did wake up, right? I hope the Union was nice to you… Secundus wants information.

For the fable, I don’t know any cyrptologists and I don’t know where we could find a primer. Maybe Marek Ishta (the historian who disappeared) was working on that? Maybe the papers you took will help.

I found some rocks, they made the hair on my neck stand up, so I took them. One of them is not a rock, it looks and feels weird. I have it in a guarded box now, but I don’t know where to take it. And anyways, I don’t have a horse and Windscour…. Have you been? It’s a long walk.

It seems we find more questions than answers and I think well I think it’s becoming more and more unlikely I will see my mom again.

I hope you are well.

Adressed to Aurumin and Secundus. The paper is littered with different handwriting and text about prices and drink menu items. The letters are capitalized, making it at least a little easier to read. Some spelling

The penmanship is messy, but everything is surprisingly well written, if a little, ok a lot informal-

Hey Miss Kora!

Sorry 'bout the Jujube Port Wine, I didn't know you didn't like Jujube. So many people 'round here like 'em, so I didn't think much of it, but I am happy you enjoyed the Coconut Pale Ale! I told Mr. North Light, and I wanted to tell you too, The first shipment of beverages and tap line hook up is on me! Think of it as an investment in good faith that we will have successful business! I'm workin' on some new brews now!

By the way, who was that shady lookin firran talkin to ya down by Abdul? He came up to where Mr North Light and I were sittin, he weren't real friendly... Got a bad vibe off that one. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help if ya need it with him... I have skills from my homeland, and bein we're neighbors and all now, I'm nearby anytime, usually.

Sorry this got a little long. I'll bring the next shipment 'round at the end of the week!
Please take care, and tell Mr North Light and that little green haired scholar guy... Wanderer, right? Well tell them I said hi! Y'all can stop by the brew lab anytime for some samples!

Cheers!

Written pretty legibly, the author has put in effort to write decently. Still some spelling and grammar errors remain.

Hello Khoshekh.
Don't care about the port. The Coconut ale was delicious, though it made me a little whoozy. Thanks for donation.
The Agave is a spirit? I don't know much about drinks. Maybe I should try those samples.

The Firran was Kuyo, he's a necromancer so 'bad vibe' is right. He's working with some people in West-Ishvara and making trouble for the Warborn.

We're neighbors? I guess I'll see you around.

Written pretty legibly but with numerous spelling and grammar issues.

Dad. More things happened. That’s how it goes, right?

My friend, small green hair fellow I told you about him? Is sick. He doesn’t know what kind of sickness he has but he says… Well he says he’s dying. That’s sad. I’m trying to find a healer to help him, some of the tribes has good healers no?

I am taking a risk in working with a bad to trust person for information about mom. But there is nothing else. You know Austera, yes? Where can I get floor plans of some of the buildings? I have an interest in architecture. Suddenly.

Then I met a dangerous friend? of Mom? In Mahadevi Port. Pretty town, though the bridge was scary. He says mom worked with his dad (Evie?!). Is he lying? He told me he recognised my hair. Maybe I should dye it.

Did you hear about the palace in City of Towers? Was there. Boom. People are stupid.

There are also Gorillas. Problems.

Love,
Kora

The handwriting is very basic, and a little shaky, but legible.

North Light,

I hired someone new. She needs a job, we need a bartender, it works maybe.
She has friends that I think we should maybe make friends with too, so…
I talked to her sort of, I’m sure she’ll learn quickly. She knows the drinks, at least. And I told her she couldn’t punch anyone.

It will be fine.

The letter is penned very carefully and legibly

Twisted Shaman,

I have been looking for a healer to help my friend.

He is a young Harani, a friendly boy, and has been suffering from an illness all his life. He complains of pain in his muscles and chest. Sometimes they are so bad he cannot move. He doesn’t know what it is, and has never been to a healer or shaman.

Please, your help would be appreciated.

A reply arrives, the letters written in an awkward cant, almost as if written by the non-dominant hand.

Tell me where to meet, and I will find you.
