In that house, there is a manner to all things and a perfection to be strived for. Tradition must be balanced with trend to showcase the dignity and power afforded by wealth. For over a century, I have been their steward. Never to leave, never to question my past.

This was for my protection. The Three Rules had been broken, and no Warborn would ever accept me. That was all I needed to know.

One. Never remove your stabilizer.

Two. Never attack first.

Three. Never forget your sins.

I try not to remember my past for fear of the lost and lingering thoughts that come unbidden from the beyond. I am also afraid of the Warborn. Not because I have broken their rules, but for something more immaterial -- a suspicion of something wrong.

My newest master did not grieve when her parents disappeared in the night, but it is known that the City of Towers is ruled by vengeful hawks that lurk within the shadows. She is young, cruel, and impulsive, yet despite her disposition, I was thankful to be protected.

"Find him, or never come back!" -- those words still weigh heavy within my chest. In a hundred years, I had not left this house. And now, it seems, I might never return. All because of a lost cat.

This was one week ago, and the world I've encountered is so much more than I could have imagined. I thought I needed that home to protect me, but I've met so many others who were able to defend themselves. I missed the comforts of home, but something inside me sought something… more.

A local Firran led me to the Sylvina hot springs near Ashbreath shore. Not only did I dearly need to recover – but I also needed a job.

I was hired as a concierge of sorts, although the work so far has mostly been custodial. I stock the storerooms, clean the villas, and attend to guests as needed. The work was not that different than that which I was accustomed to – but it felt different. I was no longer a servant. I had become free.
