Except, when someone put their head to it, and did the math, it seemed that Freehold of Arandor acquired significantly more materials than necessary for what they ended up building, the excess nowhere to be found.

Rumors went wild, ranging from bureaucratic waste, someone skimming off the top for a personal project without telling anyone, or even a secret construction beneath Devereux estate. Whatever the truth was, the Steward of the Freehold could be frequently seen with a clipboard in hand, muttering something and making notes as he walked around the recent construction.

Gossip A: "Did you hear? Rumor has it that Nadhiya was attacked while on business in Haranya."

Gossip B: "Apparently it was serious - I heard life-threatening! Something about poison?"

Gossip A: "I suppose that's why the new restaurant and teahouse hasn't opened yet."

Gossip B: "Well, it's a good thing we can still get our sweets directly from Pies N Pastries!"

Gossip A: "Still - poison? How did she even survive? And to fight as casually as she did with the knights of Arandor? It's not natural..."

Gossip B: "We better keep our eyes and ears open for anything else suspicious..."

Crier: "Fire in Cinderstone Moor! Cause unknown! Appropriate housing bylaws prevent nearby buildings from catching 'light!"
